UGH Board Members(2)

With these key members who currently hold a Board positions comes an endearing enthusiasm for  the ukulele that is infectious to any who share time with theses uke listeners, builders and players.  However, not just these current board members but the many members who fill our membership ranks as well as those who came before and those who will come after us are responsible in part for passing the ukulele’s legacy on to the world.

Steve Jones, Been building ukes for about 10 years, ever since my family sent me to Mike Chock's class as a Christmas/birthday present.  Well, now my wife is sorry that they sent me to that class, because my household repair/chore output has gone down by about 90% since my shop time is devoted to ukes.  Recent projects include a solidbody uke and a bass uke, both a lot of fun but they took me so long -- I'm not quitting my day job!   Best thing about UGH is hanging out with the guys and learning stuff -- not only tips/tricks/techniques for building but also some playing.  We're always looking for some new faces at our monthly get-togethers, hope to see you one of these times!

Howard Tanaka, recently held the position as the Board’s secretary.  His real interest as a luthier is all about jigs.  He is the “king” of ukulele jig making and shares his methods and techniques with a passion.
